This spring Beneva partnered with Phillippi Shores Elementary School to host a coloring contest for their students. Every class at the school participated in coloring Beneva’s featured Mother’s Day gift, the Lenox Butterfly Garden Pitcher. When all the pages were filled with color and crayons had been laid to rest, the students lined the halls with their coloring pages, as you can see from the pictures.
Last week, each class picked their favorite pitcher drawing from their class to be finalists. Finalists received coupons for a free kids meal and milkshake at Chik-Fil-A.
Today, owner of Beneva, Arthur Conforti, visited the school to pick the winner from the group of finalists. Art chose a drawing that he said was well balanced with color and showed great attention to detail. The winning Pitcher was colored by David “Chip” Jackson of Mrs. Paulsen’s 3rd grade class.
After picking the winner, Mr. Conforti spoke to a group of students about why he chose the drawing done by Chip. “I really liked this image because I could see that the artist took the time to think about the best way to make this Pitcher beautiful for his Mom. He chose bright colors for the outside and picked a lighter color for the background of the pitcher that complimented the rest of his image. This is what we do at the flower shop,” he stated. “We chose something we think is a great gift and then we have to figure out the best combination of flowers to put inside of it! Working with flowers is fun and creative, just like coloring.”
Friday, Mrs. Paulsen’s class will participate in a Party to celebrate Chip’s win! Jersey Mikes will be there to cater the party where Chip and his Mother will be awarded their prizes. Chip will receive a Super Fun gift basket with toys, snacks and lots of other cool stuff while his Mother will be presented with a Lenox Butterfly Garden Pitcher with a pretty pink floral arrangement!
We are so happy to be able to participate in the Sarasota community with unique programs like this one and look forward to more fun times ahead!
