Floral Design Day is a day to celebrate the artistic flair and creativity of professional designers across the country. The day was originally established as a tribute to Carl Rittner, whose School of Floral Design was considered visionary and innovative, giving credence to the talent of florists everywhere and dispelling the myth that they simply “placed flowers in a vase”. Applying the concepts of the visual arts – color, texture, space and line – the industry was elevated and recognized as an artistic discipline unto itself. For those who have dedicated their lives to making other’s lives more beautiful, this is a day to be proud!

Beneva would like to introduce you to one of our design superstars, Carmen. She has been with us for just over 2 years, but already her contributions are invaluable. If you have admired a gorgeous bouquet or design in the shop, you’ve likely seen Carmen’s handiwork, as she loves to design for the showroom. And if you’ve been lucky enough to receive one of her arrangements, we know it was beautiful. 

Carmen says, ” I love to create what I feel, and adding the “Carmen” touch.”  As a floral designer, she works with a wide variety of flowers – but her favorites include tropicals, lilies, orchids, and Bells of Ireland. Her job allows her to create all types of arrangements,  but she especially likes to work on both compact and stylized designs, as well as tall and showy displays.

Flowers have been an integral part of our lives since time began, but the skills, methods, and medium have changed dramatically. When it comes to expressing your sentiments or showing your love, you can be assured that Carmen’s talents will result in a stunning arrangement. Beneva would like to thank Carmen for her dedication and commitment to making Sarasota a little more beautiful every day.
