There are many reasons for floral enthusiasts to welcome spring and summer, but the incredible variety of flower festivals, shows and other events that pop up across the country is just another one. Beneva & Plantscapes has rounded up our favorite nearby events—two home-grown in the Sunshine State and one not too far afield. Epcot International Garden & Flower Festival, Orlando, Florida

Yes, yes, we know. You’ve been there a million times, but not like this! Epcot is literally transformed by flora, boasting elaborate topiary and floral sculptures in the form of Disney characters. There are outdoor kitchens, parades, cultural activities and even the destination’s very own horticulturalists wandering around to take questions and drop some gardening knowledge.

Florida Strawberry Festival, Plant City, Florida

Over the course of 11 days, Plant City showcases its most famous export: the strawberry. You may not know that this sweet red berry isn’t a berry at all, but a type of fruit that emerges from a flower. At this event, you’ll be treated to strawberry-forward foods, live music, livestock shows and even carnival rides. It’s lots of down-home fun, and a great opportunity to learn about how strawberries grow.

North Carolina Azalea Festival, Wilmington, North Carolina

There are more than 50 smaller events happening around this big one, which sees an azalea queen crowned, a circus performing, musical concerts, a three-day street fair and fancy galas. As if that’s not enough, there’s also a parade and fireworks, all to celebrate this peppy flowering shrub.
