We probably don’t need any reason or excuse to celebrate beautiful roses, but this month gives us that opportunity. June is National Rose Month and is your chance to send a gorgeous bouquet of these classic beauties to those you love. Although a go-to flower for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, and more, you can give roses any day of the year, all year long. At this time of year, we love the bright, vivid vibrancy of summer roses, and you can get them from Beneva.
Did You Know? Roses grow in every color except true blue and black. They actually lack a gene necessary to create that color in their petals. Roses billed as “black roses” are actually a deep, dark red color. Rose bushes are incredibly resilient and can live for extraordinary lengths of time. There is a rosebush in Germany that has been blooming for over 1,000 years – they have documented evidence since 815 A.D. Similarly, a rosebush in Tombstone, Arizona has grown to such an immense girth that it boasts over 200,000 flowers, and is suspended by an arbor for guests to sit under. Roses are very popular throughout the world. The rose is the national flower of England, Honduras, Iran, Poland, Romania, and the United States. It is the official state flower of Georgia, Iowa, New York, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, and the province of Alberta. Roses come in many sizes, the smallest of which exhibits buds no larger than a grain of rice. The largest bloom ever cultivated was a pink rose measuring approximately 33 inches in diameter, bred by Nikita K. Rulhoksoffski from San Onofre, California.
Better Than the Orange – Here in Florida, we know the value of citrus for Vitamin C. However, rose hips have more Vitamin C than oranges, and are the best natural source of nutrients.
This June, send a few beautiful roses to your friends in Sarasota. Let them know just how special they are to you, with a bouquet from Beneva.
