Enjoy the Season

It is Geier’s 31st Annual Oktoberfest this weekend at Geier’s Sausage Kitchen, located on Tamiami Trail!  Come for live German music, Bratwurst and Knockwurst Dinner plates, and a FREE German beer for just showing up!  It runs from today until Saturday 11-6!

The 5th Annual Sarasota 5000 Regatta begins at 8 on Saturday morning at Blackburn Point Park.  There will be spectator boats available to the public to go out and watch the rowers compete!

Apples are a delicious part of a fall diet!  Try these unique ideas of how to use this fruit:

– Use apples instead of bread for a twist on a peanut butter and jelly sandwich

Autumn Acorn Vase

This simple DIY Acorn Vase is a great way to get your kids involved with yard work!

  1. Have your children go outside and collect all the acorns they can find.  It is fun for them and clears your yard of those pesky acorns.
  2. Heat the acorns on a cookie sheet at about 200 degrees for 30 minutes.  This is to rid the acorns of any leftover bugs that might have been nesting inside.
  3. Using a hot glue gun, glue the acorns to a plastic container.
  4. Once it dries, add fresh flowers from Beneva to complete your project
