HOW TO keep your pets safe this Halloween

The first thing I think about when it comes to Halloween safety for our dogs is candy and candy wrappers. Chocolate can make your dog very sick (or worse). Artificial sweeteners such as xylitol commonly found in candy and gum, can be very toxic to your pooch as well. Just keep all candy away from your dog! And you may have noticed, many dogs won’t actually take the time to unwrap a piece of candy before wolfing it down. Wrappers are a choke hazard. Make sure to keep your dog away from areas where he could get into Halloween decorations, too. He will naturally be curious about these. Decorations may pose a potential choke hazard, and chewed electrical cords are obviously very dangerous not only to your dog, but it’s a great way to get your house burned down. Pumpkin meat (in moderation) is actually good for your dog, but it should be cooked. Otherwise you may be in for a dog with an upset tummy. Pumpkin seeds are fine, too.
